PAFO-AHA- Organizational Development Workshop: Reinventing the collaborative approach

Leaders & CEO’s from the 5 regional Network – Eastern African Farmers Federation (EAFF), Regional Platform of Farmers’ Organizations of Central Africa (PROPAC), Network of farmers’ and producers’ organizations in West Africa (ROPPA), Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU), Maghrebian and North African Union of Farmers (UMNAGRI) – gathered in Berlin to rethink their collaborative approach at a workshop on Organizational Development, prepared by Andreas Hermes Akademie (AHA), from 15-17 January 2024.

For three days, the members of the Board and the SEs of the member networks focused on a joint reflection to formulate a structured program for PAFO’s organizational development, with a view to strengthening the institutional, operational and strategic capacities of the continental organisation. The ambition is to enable PAFO to better respond to the needs and aspirations of its members across the continent.

The workshop was an opportunity for PAFO leaders to work together to build a solid basis for positively influencing agricultural policies and defending farmers’ rights at national and continental level.

The leaders have committed themselves to strengthening their capacities, to being better equipped to respond more efficiently to the needs of African farmers, and to defending their interests with determination. This heightened commitment propels towards more effective collaboration, rooted in a shared vision for the future of agriculture in Africa.

The Berlin workshop is just the first step in the implementation of this new program, under the partnership agreement with AHA. It will be followed by two virtual workshops and a final physical meeting in July 2024, in Kigali.

The Organizational Development program is being implemented by PAFO, in partnership with AHA, and with financial support from Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)
