Global Food Systems Summit Independent Dialogue of Farmers ’ Organizations

Ahead of the UN Food Systems Summit (FSS) in September and the Pre-Summit this July, this Independent FSS Dialogue follows a series of previous dialogues held on a regional basis by different Farmers’ organisations with the ambition of identifying solutions to facilitate the transition to sustainable, just, inclusive and empowering food systems. The UN Summit, indeed, aims to raise awareness on the necessity of achieving sustainable food systems, promoting the development of a range of innovative ideas that can help achieve the sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda.

This “Global Food Systems Summit Independent Dialogue of Farmers’ Organizations” focuses on common challenges that need to be addressed, as well as common game-changing solutions that need to be implemented, based on tangible examples reported by the several farmers’ organizations involved. It will be an opportunity to integrate and elaborate on the results of previous dialogues and to consolidate the views, perspectives, solutions, recommendations, commitments from the regional dialogues that have been conducted. Participants will also have the chance to engage collectively, provide proposals and contribute to a Farmers’ Declaration which will feed into the solutions of the UN Food Systems Summit.

The session is jointly convened by Asian Farmers Association for Sustainable Rural Development, AFA, Pan African Farmers Organization, (PAFO), and World Farmers’ Organizations, (WFO)
