Farmers’ Interests at the heart of the Agricultural Policy Dialogue

“In the framework of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin, AHA organized an exchange session and dialogue between PAFO and the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment of the African Union Commission (ARBE).

This exclusive event is part of the African Union (AU)-Germany Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD) project, recently launched by the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture (BMEL) in partnership with ARBE and a consortium comprising AHA International, the Institut de Créativité Appliquée (IAK) and the “Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network” (FANRPAN).

The exchange provided a unique opportunity to explore how the interests of African farmers can be actively integrated into agricultural policy development processes. Discussions included the objectives, working methods and potential areas of collaboration to strengthen the agricultural policy development process and its implementation across Africa.

This timely dialogue highlights the crucial role of farmers in formulating inclusive and effective agricultural policies. By highlighting farmers’ interests within the APD project, this initiative provides a platform to contribute to a more prosperous and sustainable agricultural future worldwide.
