CTM TRAINING – Pan-African FO Exchange Platform

Andreas Hermes Akademie (AHA) e.V. and Pan African Farmers Organization (PAFO) organized a three-day training in presence in Kigali from May 10th to 12th, 2023, for the Core Moderation Team (CMT). In this training 15 participants from 12 African countries (Kenya, Congo-Kinshasa Cameron, Thad, Togo, Burkina Faso, Mail, Congo, Eswatini, Tanzania, South Africa, and Tunisia) took part. Insaf Boughdiri (PAFO Communications Manager), Zubeiri Bihangamanywa (PAFO Assistant to the Manager), and Julian Friesinger (AHA Program Manager) organized the training while Francis Offermann (AHA Trainer) implemented the training.  The aim of the training was to strengthen the capacities of CMT members on important aspects of Moderation.

The three day training included the following aspects among others: – principles of moderation;

  • Moderation cycle;
  • Communication tools;
  • Planning of sessions….
  • Add some more topics if there were…

The participants also discussed relevant topics for farmers’ organizations. The five Regional Farmer Organization (RFO) has chosen topics that they would work on according to their competencies. The topics include:

  • Climate change
  • Lobby and advocacy
  • Communication Etc.

As of June 2023, the CMT members will organize online sessions on the assigned different topics. Through the platform, African FOs will learn from each other and share lessons learned in different fields to effectively and efficiently develop their capacities and competencies. Through these exchange sessions, they will be in a better position to articulate their voice at the national and global level to shape framework conditions for farmers.  Furthermore, leaders and managers of African RFOs (young as well as senior level) will be strengthened in their organizational and thematic competence.
