PAFO delegation meets BMZ State Secretary in Berlin

During the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin, the PAFO delegation, led by President Ibrahima Coulibaly, was received by the Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The meeting, organized on the initiative of AHA, was an in-depth discussion on the future of sustainable agriculture and prospects for international collaboration. Both sides stressed the importance of promoting environmentally-friendly farming practices, while ensuring global food security.

The promising avenues opened up during this meeting lay the foundations for closer international collaboration to strengthen the capacities of African farmers’ organizations and, by extension, those of farmers themselves.  Representatives of the various farmers’ organizations that are members of PAFO shared their experiences, fostering a mutual understanding of the challenges facing African agriculture. The focus on innovation was also a key element of the discussion. Delegates exchanged ideas on how new technologies and sustainable farming practices can be integrated to improve productivity while preserving natural resources.

Both PAFO and the BMZ are working to achieve a more sustainable and innovative agricultural sector on the African continent. The partnership between PAFO and the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Development provides encouraging prospects for future projects to promote environmentally friendly, socially equitable and economically viable agriculture.
